The Ancient Egyptian Civilization is perhaps one of the most well-known and iconic civilizations to have ever existed. They created the pyramids that are still considered a work of architectural genius and introduced the concept of preservation of human bodies in the form of mummies. Due to their advanced use of language, their lives have been well documented. From religion to warfare, archaeologists have been able to decipher a lot about this 6,000-year-old civilization.

Even though there are a plethora of topics to choose from, today, we will take a look into the warfare and weaponry used by the ancient Egyptians that made their army so great.

Background

Right off the bat, it is worth noting that the Egyptian army was not great from the start. In fact, most of the weaponry in the Old and Middle Kingdom was very basic and not suitable for advanced combat.

The ancient Egyptians rarely focused heavily on warfare because the barren land around them provided sufficient protection, or so they thought. They only fortified some critical locations and lived their lives without particular issues from outside. Initially…
