Idi Amin Dada Oumee was the most brutal despot of all times.

Despotism is a type of government in which a single person or a single entity rules with absolute powers.

He was a Ugandan military officer and later became the president of Uganda for the period of 8 years from 1971–1979.

In 1946 he joined the KAR(Kings’s African Rifles) of the British Colonial army as a cook.

Although being a cook, he later rose to the rank of lieutenant when he took part in the Shifta War with the Mau Mau rebels in Kenya.

In 1962, Uganda became independent from the rule of the British. After independence, Amin remained in the army and attained the position of major. Later, he was appointed as the commander of the Uganda Army in 1965.

Amin was a crook. He was misusing the army funds. The then-president Milton Obote came to know about it and started planning to arrest Amin.

Amin knew it, and in order to save himself, he propelled a military coup in 1971 and proclaimed himself president of Uganda.
