Is Trump’s New World Order Sustainable?
President Donald J. Trump Senior’s (R-Florida) is trying to create new global economic order with dramatic actions such as tariffs.
Effectively, Trump wants a new world order in which the United States uses its economic power and military might to force its will on other countries. I think Trump’s efforts will fail, but they will change the world. Indeed, some foreign leaders recognize they need a new strategy.
For example, Canada’s new Prime Minister, Mark Carney (L-Nepean) says “We must fundamentally re-imagine our economy. We will need to ensure that Canada can succeed in a drastically different world.”
Carney is no radical. The member for Nepean, Ontario, is a career central banker who served as Governor of the Bank of England and Governor of the Bank of Canada. Hence, Carney is a pillar of the old order.
