Missing Climber’s Frozen Body Found After 21 Years
American climber William Holland disappeared into thin air in 1989.
The Day of Tragedy
On April 3, 1989, at about 6 am, four climbing enthusiasts prepared for their journey to the summit of Mount Snowdome in Canada. One of them was 39-year-old William Holland, a geologist by profession from Maine. The climbers divided into groups of two — William and his best friend Chris Dube, a fellow American, took the lead, and after nine hours of trekking at around 3 pm, they reached the summit of the mountain.
Weather on the Day in Question
When the group began their trek for the summit, the weather was quite decent and the conditions were favorable for a climb. But as the climbers progressed towards the top, it kept getting worse and worse. William and his partner Chris were about 100m ahead of the other two climbers — Rick Costea and Ken Wallator.
The Fall
After reaching the summit, Holland and Dube began looking for a way back down. At that point, for some reason, the two were not connected…
