Born during a thunderstorm, Nikola Tesla spent his life mastering lightning. Despite hailing from the small rural village of Smiljan in modern-day Croatia, he proved himself to be one of the most influential inventors of his time.

Tesla Was Always An Inquisitive Mind

Whether it be the wireless transfer of electricity or the creation of Alternating Current, Tesla was constantly at the forefront of electronic inventions and recognized the world over.

In particular, his rivalry with Thomas Edison captivated scientific circles and the general public alike. In 1898, however, the Serbian-American inventor created something that, at the time, was considered science fiction; a remotely controlled drone.

More specifically, his creation was a small metal boat, measuring four feet in length and possessing a strong resemblance to early submarines. Despite its rather unassuming outer appearance, the boat had an awe-inspiring ability; to be maneuvered wirelessly via radio waves. This was a feature the likes of which had never been witnessed before and thus made Tesla’s machine the first drone ever created.
