The Making of Harry Houdini

Harry Houdini’s path to becoming an iconic figure in magic was not a straightforward one. Born Ehrich Weisz in Hungary in 1874, Houdini moved to the United States with his family when he was four years old.

The young Ehrich was drawn to the world of performance early on. His first public appearance was as a trapeze artist, performing under the name “Ehrich, the Prince of the Air” at the age of nine.
