The Elms Hotel and Spa. Source

When you first approach the Elms, which I highly suggest you do at night, there is a mystical, haunting aura about it. Although the hotel itself is warm and inviting, as you stare up at this historical landmark in the dark, the amber light emanating from the many guest room windows and the flickering glow of the garden path lanterns inadvertently give off an eerie feeling.

This place undoubtedly has secrets.

The Miraculous and Burning History of the Elms

Excelsior Springs, Missouri is home to the magnificent Elms Spa and Hotel. The hotel got its origin thanks to the healing mineral waters that were discovered in the late 1800s at this remote location.

The spring containing the alloy ferromanganese was given the name Siloam Spring and became a popular tourist spot for those looking for the benefits of the water, believing that it could cure them of their ailments.

As the story goes, a local farmer by the name of Travis Mellion had a daughter with tuberculosis. In desperation, he gave his daughter, Opal, the mineral water, and eventually, she was completely cured.
