Every historical culture has its own unique set of beauty standards, and some of them are markedly different from the standards we have today.

However, we can still look through the centuries and highlight those who were known to be beautiful during their lifetime. Even without photo evidence, it’s possible to pick out historical beauties from the past.

So, from ancient queens to modern sex symbols, here are ten beautiful women from history.

1. Nefertari

Ramesses II (better known as Ramesses the Great) was an Egyptian pharaoh who ruled between 1279 and 1213 BC.

Ramesses had many children with many wives. His first (and favorite) wife was called Nefertari, a name that literally means “beautiful companion.” A well-educated individual who historians believe was the daughter of a prominent official, Nefertari was frequently depicted as an Egyptian beauty wearing lavish clothing and jewelry.

Her tomb in the Valley of Queens is one of the largest and most beautifully decorated tombs discovered by archeologists. There’s…
