You know the saying “What a man can do a woman can do as well.”

Just like their male counterparts, some women have wielded great powers, commanded armies, fought bravely, and dominated their foes in battle.

These women ruled in their names.

From Asia to Europe and Africa here is my list of ten of the greatest female warriors in history.

10. Boudicca

Boudicca is an iconic heroine of British history. She led a rebellion against the forces of the Roman Empire in Britain in AD 60 or 61.

Her husband was a king of a small tribe called Iceni and a forced ally of Rome. Before he died he left his kingdom jointly to his daughters and the Roman Emperor in his will. But his will was ignored after his death, and his kingdom was annexed, his properties were taken, his wife Boudicca was flogged, and his daughters assaulted.

Furious, Boudicca gathered an army of hundreds of thousands and waged a devastating campaign on the Romans. Before her death, she had destroyed three roman settlements; Camulodinum (Colchester), Verulamium (St. Albans), and Londinium (London).
