Peru and South American have been known for some pretty shocking practices over the course of history.
One of these was the act of child sacrifice — often mass child sacrifice.
A discovery made a couple of years ago revealed the bodies of as many as 227 victims — all children — ranging from the ages of about 5 to early teens found in a town north of Peru’s capital Lima.
The disturbing part is that this wasn’t the first discovery of its kind. There had been a discovery of a similar scale made in another part of Peru which had revealed another set of hundreds of victims — both children and llamas, indicating that the Gods were probably bribed with sacrifices of children and animals alike.
The timing of these sacrificial discoveries is believed to be around 500–700 years ago so around the 1400s and 1500s CE.
