It is a courtroom in Belgium flocked by media and public. It is a curious case in which an art dealer tried to conceive the court that he forged an artwork.

Why would someone try to convince the jury that he committed a fraud? Well, if he couldn’t convince the jury, he will be hanged. The art forger was Han van Meegeren, who fooled the Nazi Luftwaffe Commander Reichsmarshall Hermann Göring in World War II.

Meegeren was born in Deventer and, from a young life, had a nag for artwork. He graduated from art college and was a topper in class.

Meegeren took up his career in the art world, and he received a lukewarm response for his initial works.
