Attila the Hun ruled the Hunnic Empire from 434 to 453 A.D. Some historians say his name may not have been his birth name but “a term of fondness and esteem granted on his ascension.” This term was a synonym for terror among his foes and the general inhabitants of the lands his soldiers conquered. He was also known as the “Scourge of God” because he plundered and sacked Roman cities.

In John Man’s book about Attila The Hun, he was portrayed as a great commander and a wise leader.

Attila, the Hun’s culture, was centered on blood and war. He was a cunning warrior and chief. He is regarded as one of the greatest “barbarian” kings because he expanded the Huns’ sphere of influence. He also kept a nearly undefeated combat record.

What set him apart was his intelligence and intense personality. Attila knew what had to be done and did it without hesitation.
