A mother threw her newborn out the window, a man was killed by a falling body, serial killers slept quietly, and a decomposing body was found in a water tank – all at the Cecil Hotel.

Serial killers Richard Ramirez (the “Night Stalker”) and Jack Unterweger each reportedly stayed at The Cecil in 1985 and 1991.

The Cecil Hotel opened its doors in 1927 initially meant for roaming business people, and social elites. However, over its life span, it’s hosted over 16 murders, mysterious deaths, and even housed some of the world’s most gruesome serial killers.

Shortly after its opening, the world would be faced with the great depression, and the Cecil hotel would become a meeting place for crime and death.

The Cecil Hotel was the inspiration behind American Horror Story’s: “Hotel.”
