History and Personal Life of the Serial Killer Couple

Born on 30th December 1914, in Oklahoma, Ray Copeland and his family lived in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. At the height of the Great Depression, like many rural American families, he dropped out of school and started dabbling in cattle to support his family.

Ray was no stranger to crime at 20; he stole two hogs, scarpered to another town, sold them, and pocketed the proceeds. No charges were made against him because his father intervened on his behalf. 6 years later, he was sentenced to a year-long spell in Harrison County Jail for forging government checks. His attitude was described by his friends and family asentitled and volatile.

In 1940, he found himself a partner-in-crime for his cattle fraud- 19-year-old Della Wilson. After a brief courtship, they got married and moved with their two older children to California. Ray’s children and his wife were not safe from his violent temper.

Della ‘Fay’ had been raised in a very poor, Christian fundamentalist household and believed divorce was a sin. She never intervened…
