A Happy Marriage?

Lesley and Lyle Herring met at a 99 cent store and were married within a year. Lesley, 33, was an immigrant from Guyana. Lyle, 45, was more than happy to show her around town. Inseparable, the two would wear matching outfits and their family presumed that they were blissfully in love.

Discord began in the marriage; Lesley was responsible and had a steady job at a home security company. Lyle, however, was extremely irresponsible; he worked as a college recruiter at California State University, Northridge.

Lesley wrote a letter to her husband to tell him how unhappy she was with him, mentioning that she wanted to leave him. The generally even-tempered Lyle didn’t take this very well and what happened to Lesley preceding her disappearance, only he knows. They had been married 11 years.

When the police came to learn about the case, appearances of this well-settled couple, near a Hollywood condominium, didn’t ring any alarm bells.
