Leopold II was born on 9th April 1835 in Brussels, and he started reigning in 1865.

He was the second King of the Belgians. There was much progress s during his reign. He ruled till his death on 17th December 1909, at Lankan.

After his death, Belgium's throne was passed to his nephew Albert I.

Leopold II ruled for 45 years, which was the longest reign in the history of the Belgium Monarchy.

Yet Leopold II is notorious for his cruelty and tyranny in the Congo.

Expanding Belgian territory and establishing himself as the most significant leader of Belgium was only Leopold’s dream.

Leopold ignored his colony's cruelty, brutalization, and sexual exploitation.

Leopold II had a belief that Belgium should own a colony. First, he tried to buy the Philippines (a colony of Spain), but the Spanish refused to sell. The main reason became the lack of funds.
