Tsutomu Yamaguchi saw a B-29 bomber flying over Hiroshima at 8:15 a.m. on the morning of August 6, 1945, while he was on his way to work. Yamaguchi last saw a blaze of light like a magnesium flare rushing towards the city as a little item tied to two parachutes tumbled out of the plane.
