Amity in Maine has for years been a relatively peaceful little town. It is a Canadian border town with a relatively small population of people, Amity consists of a tightly knit community of closely connected people. Given the tightly knit nature of the community, people in Amity historically had little fear of crime and lived peacefully.

Nevertheless, the population has over the years slowly but consistently grown, creating greater opportunities for danger. Even with a growth in population, Amity had largely been the kind of town where residents lose no comfort sleeping with their doors unlocked.

Things, however, radically changed in 2010 when an outsider managed to brutally murder three residents of Amity. It was June 22nd, 2010, when Jeff Ryan, his close friend, Jason Dehahn, and his 10-year-old son, Jesse Ryan, were savagely stabbed to death for no apparent reason.

It was a shocking moment for the people of Amity as three innocent people were killed in cold blood. The murders took place in Jeff Ryan’s mobile home and are considered by most commentators as the worst murder case in the history of the state of Maine.
