The Early Life of Rudolf Diesel
Rudolf Diesel was born in Paris on March 18, 1858. His family lived in France until the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian War in 1870, which forced them to relocate. The Diesels first moved to London before eventually settling in Bavaria, in southern Germany.
Rudolf’s early life was marked by a strong academic performance and a diverse array of talents. He was not only an excellent student but also had a keen interest in languages, becoming fluent in French and German.
Additionally, he had a passion for poetry and music, often reading and writing poems and playing the piano.
From a young age, Diesel exhibited a remarkable intellect and curiosity, which propelled him to the top of his class in every subject. His academic excellence earned him a scholarship to the newly established Royal Bavarian Polytechnic of Munich.
