Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. However, her mysterious disappearance has been the subject of speculation for decades.

Some conspiracy theorists claim Amelia Earhart was abducted by aliens. Others believe she was either a spy, taken prisoner and executed by the Imperial Japanese Navy, or died as a castaway.

Here are several plausible theories that could explain what actually happened to Amelia Earhart:

Amelia Earhart Ran Out Of Fuel And Crashed In The Pacific Ocean

Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan departed Papua New Guinea on July 2, 1937. The duo intended to land on Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean. But when they couldn’t find the tiny island, the pair radioed for assistance, mentioning that they were out of fuel.

“We must be on you but cannot see you,” said Amelia Earhart in a message to a nearby Coast Guard ship. “Gas is running low.”

The pair were sadly never seen or heard from again. And, for several decades, speculation has been rife as to whether the official narrative is true or not.
