When US and German Forces Fought Together In World War II
In the Battle for Castle Itter, US forces, German SS, and the German army fought together to save French political prisoners against SS.
It was a castle in the middle of Austria. The notorious German Schutzstaffel (SS) forces bombarded the castle.
A US Sherman tank, Jenny, protected the castle. Inside the castle, there are groups of people who fired their rifles on the SS troops. The groups which defended the castle consisted of an Ex-French prime minister, a US army officer, a SS officer, and a German army major.
It is an interesting event in World War II where the US, German and French forces fought together.
