Fanta is a beverage consumed in all parts of the world. In fact, its branding and advertisement are such that it calls for a collaboration of different cultures, breeding a narrative of acceptance and unity. Bright in color, and with a very identifiable font, it has been around in circulation since 1940. However, Fanta’s 81-year-old history is not as great as it seems. This drink had a past that was shrouded in darkness during the Nazi Germany era when it collaborated with the Third Reich.

Once a ‘not so eccentric’ looking drink, it was a staple in Nazi Germany and has since distanced itself from its dark history after the war. This is the story of how Coca-Cola invented Fanta not just to expand its breadth worldwide but simply because an ambitious man wanted to keep the company’s profit rolling. The plan worked, and today, Fanta is just another subsidiary of Coca-Cola that substantially profits the company.
