Make memories now.

Giving advice to two generations in the future is both difficult and easy. Difficult in that knowing what the world will be like is impossible but easy in that what makes humans be good humans will be the same.

So, I’ll make a list… similar to the ones that get shared over and over — only these are from my own heart and experience, in no particular order.

The Life Advice List

  • People remember stories, so tell them something memorable.
  • If you surround yourself with who and what you want to be, then, that is who and what you will become.
  • Don’t be afraid to revisit an old or rejected idea.
  • Stand up for what you believe in.
  • Give thanks to God.
  • Create memorable experiences. You’ll remember what you did more than what you owned.
  • Pay attention to small details, as they define professionalism.
  • Write down your bucket list.
  • You can still learn from your childhood toys as an adult.
  • Invest in your own professional development.
  • If you chase money, you will never catch it.
  • Think how you can, not why you can’t.
  • Invest your money where you invest your time.
  • You always have to look out for number one, yourself.
  • Never stop being curious.

While a list like this could go on forever, the core theme is this…

Always take care of yourself and family first, and create experiences that advance your sharable knowledge.

Our legacy is only defined by how much of an impact we have on other people to carry our memory forward. It is the only thing that truly makes a difference and matters, so make sure you figure out the best way to apply these principles to your life.
