Hidden in the Words

Words, letter beings, inch toward my eyes
As close as flame to fire, bones to graves
The dead of musing their spells raise
Bornless gist waives crystals, curiosity it craves

“Why is a raven like a writing desk?”
I ask of thee: has thou drest
In the figurative essence of pretense?
In nonsense I try to disentomb my path to sense
Hidden in the words, a million minds away
Tis the madness of allegorical letterkind

After first dark printed are letter beings
How bloodless are thy inklings!
How I wonder why you hide so mystically
I didn’t follow meaning so closely

Abysmal lighting days do not consider
The weightless signs living in the ether
And I seem to be thinking in circles
The way out of my head is rhetorical
Hidden in the words, a million minds away
Tis the madness of allegorical letterkind.
