The novel concept of borrowing a human book for 30 mins started first in Copenhagen in the year 2000 as a project for Roskilde Festival, by Ronni Abergel and his brother Dany and colleagues Asma Mouna and Christoffer Erichsen.

It then became an interesting event that everyone wanted to be a part of, as a book or as a reader. And for the first time in Delhi, you can read these human books. The concept of ‘Human Library’ will be introduced as an event on June 18 which will allow readers to borrow real people (books) and learn from their life experiences over a 30-minute meaningful conversation.

The ideology of the event is to let you ask questions to the book that shall help dispel any pre conceived notions, give more details on the topic and engage the reader in a conversation than a monologue.

Let’s Barter India is proud to be the official barter partner for this event, where you can exchange ideas and stories.

We spoke to Neha Singh, the book depot manager of the Delhi chapter, and she shared that the first event will host ‘human books’ from 11 categories. These will range from a recovering drug abuser, Buddhism practitioner and tea-seller turned author to female solo traveller, cancer survivors, bullying victim and a history chronicler, among others.

Come join us on 18 June at Innov8 Coworking, CP for this once in a lifetime sort of experience. Check out Human Library Delhi here.
