Most of us are going to remember where we were when Indian government announced its demonetization. In a matter of minutes, all INR 500 and 1000 notes were denounced as legal currency. Chaos ensued in the country following this bold move to fight black money. Support it or be against it, you couldn’t ignore the step taken by the government.

But what about the impact on our everyday lives. Even if your money is legal, you have to stand in long queues (hours long) to exchange it for the new notes. And even then you can only have a limited amount. What is India going to do in this time of cash crunch? We had the answer- BARTER!

Let’s Barter India started as a little movement on Facebook to bring about a minimalistic mindset and promote the barter concept in India. In these times of demonetisation, Indians are realising the power of bartering, within their communities.

We walked around CP and spoke to some Delhi’ites standing in bank queues, to know if they are using barter now. Sharing the amazing stories we uncovered in the Let’s Barter India exclusive photo series.
