I’m lazy. It’s that simple.
If I can automate a repetitive Excel task — within reason — I do it.
In my daily use of Excel, I rarely use the Excel Ribbon menu (in fact, I hide it so I gain extra screen space). I leverage the keyboard shortcuts, the Quick Access Toolbar and different add-ins to eliminate steps.
I created an add-in (InvenioMakeItEasy.xlam) to automate a number of tasks I frequently encounter. Among them are:
- Auto-fit all columns (one-click)
- Printing — turn on gridlines
- Printing — turn off gridlines
- Printing-landscape orientation
- Printing-Create basic footer
- Printing — Basic footer with date
- Printing — Clear print footer
- Printing — Print current sheet to PDF (named as tab name + date/time stamp)
- And more…
