“CTRL + ALT + D” opens my desired Excel file

I use the above Excel file virtually all day as an super easy way to access content I’m working on. **

I wanted a keyboard shortcut to make opening this file a no-brainer. Fortunately, it’s easy!

Here’s how:

1–File is sitting in a Folder. Create a Shortcut for That Excel File

2 — Right-Click the shortcut file and select “Properties”

Right click the Shortcut file and Select Properties

3 — Create Your Desired Shortcut

Create the Keyboard Shortcut
  • I assign “D” and the shortcut becomes “CTRL + ALT + D”. Click “Apply”.
Enter Shortcut and Click Apply!

4 — Now, USE IT. Invoking that shortcut now opens that file whenever I need it!

** For those curious, this Excel file uses Power Query to generate lists of content on my Desktop PC, which I have enabled various filters for — Day Date (last 5 days), File Type — Excel, Images, everything, and Year / Month (say anything modified in Oct 2018 (2018–10). Quick access links to any Folder or File! (That’s a future post!)

Easy, convenient, and a potential big time saver!

Do you have a specific file you would use this with? I would love to know!
