Let’s Code to Save the World
Or at least be an Asteroid Hunter in NASA’s First Asteroid Grand Challenge Contest
If you like coding as much as you like astronomy, and want to know what is around us, there is an opportunity to make a difference.
The goal is to develop better algorithms to identify asteroids using image analysis. So you can write a code that will help prevent unwanted surprises. ( and maybe have great surprises by discovering something new :D )

NASA Maps Dangerous Asteroids That May Threaten Earth

This NASA graphic shows the orbits of all the known Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs), numbering over 1,400 as of early 2013. Shown here is a close-up of the orbits overlaid on the orbits of Earth and other inner planets.
If I write some code, it will be on my github. @douglasmiranda
