My New Year’s #Yammerlution 2014
Going where the energy is
The theme of my year will be to “go where the energy is”.
I’ll work out loud on Yammer (or more publicly on Twitter and Medium.com when not sensitive) so people know what I’m working on. This means anyone with similar positive energy can identify each other and self-organise into powerful bottom-up movements.
When I meet resistance, I’ll not try and convince people who are not ready. I’ll follow the principle of “show, not tell”. I’ll let people know what other people in the world are doing, and the people that are resisting can get on board if/when they’re ready. There are enough people inside and outside our organization with energy to make things happen, without having to burn too much energy on those with a different mental model of the world. People that have already changed the world in significant ways made it happen with a few people with a common vision, they didn’t have to convince all the resistance.
This post was inspired by a conversation someone started in Microsoft’s Yammer network. Someone shared their resolutions, and immediately people were inspired to follow by sharing theirs.
