Why I started #SpotlightSnippets

I believe everyone is inspiring. #SpotlightSnippets helps uncover, shine a light on, and share people’s genius with the world. If someone searches online typing your name, what have you shared with the world? Your LinkedIn profile or status updates can let people know what’ve you’ve been up to or what’s on your mind, though they don’t really give people the opportunity to learn about what makes you you — your way of thinking, your genius. #SpotlightSnippets captures our genius to inspire people we’ll never meet in the world.

I’ve brought together three of my loves: asking people questions, making videos; and watching videos. I remember hearing a theme from several inventors (such as Steve Jobs and George Lucas), they created things they want that don’t yet exist. That’s how I feel about #SpotlightSnippets.

How #SpotlightSnippets works

There’s no need to prepare answers — in fact spontaneous may be better. I’ll ask you a bunch of questions (such as those listed below) while video recording, edit it down to less than five minutes, then upload to the YouTube channel.

Sample questions:

Who are you inspired by?

If you could do any job what would it be?

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

If you’ve had really good day or week, what would have happened?

When you’re in flow — doing something you love, what are you doing?

If you had a free weekend, what would you do?

What would you have liked to have achieved within the next 5 years?

What do you think would be a good question to ask?

What’s your favourite book?

Who are some of your favourite musical artists?

If you were to write a book, what would it be about?

Where or when are you most creative?

What’s something we wouldn’t know about you by looking at you?

What does success mean to you?

What would you like to learn?

What’s your ambition?

Which two people would you recommend we shine a light on next?
