It’s no secret that we’re extremely biased about standard and PPR fantasy advice here at LTFF.

While we like to think our advice is pretty good on our weekly podcasts, we’re mere beginners when it comes to Auction Drafting. That’s why we’ve called in our friends at Auction Draft to give you some background on getting involved and how to dominate your league.

Here’s some insight from James McMurtry, the founder of Auction Draft.

Who is Auction Draft?

AuctionDraft.net is a fantasy football resource for fans and avid followers of the hobby game that follows the professional football sport known as the NFL. The specific focus of this website is to focus and the auction drafting format as well as the high production scoring systems include Auctiondraft Pro which allows for quarterbacks to be on the same level as running backs and wide receivers.

So what’s so great about auction drafting?

Auction drafting is a more involved manner to build a team as opposed to the classic snake style draft at the beginning of each season. The reason for this is that even if you don’t want to draft a player you still bid on any given player that is on the board. The goal being to drain cash from all other 10–14 teams involved in the draft so that they have less cash to bid up the players that you want. Every player that is thrown out during the draft is in play and you are involved. This diverges from a traditional snake draft where you just wait for your turn and can’t effect the outcome of other owners in their picks.

Scoring systems and Auction values

Another area that AuctionDraft.net is focused on is establishing values for higher production scoring systems. Most popular websites incorporate a low scoring systems in the rankings and valuations because rushing yards and receiving yards are the highest rewarded scoring system. However, many leagues today incorporate a custom scoring system that gives points to production for pass completions and rush attempts as well as giving 6 points for a pass touchdown. In this system players score more, but quarterbacks specifically score high and can carry a team as they generally throw for 20+ completions. AD (AuctionDraft.net) is focused on this scoring format and providing rankings for this type of league with the top QBs having equal or more value than the usual top running backs and wide receivers.

Articles on Auction Drafting

We focus primarily on fantasy football, however, we do discuss pro football topics throughout the year. It’s always fun to make predictions and have top 10 lists out there.

We try to take a different angle from the mainstream to give something interesting to read in the sport. An example would be our article on great quarterbacks of all time. We wanted to take the discussion outside of the typical criteria of having super bowl wins as the primary premise and look at the other things that make quarterbacks great.

Apps for Fantasy Football Auction Drafting

AD is not only a blog, but a tool resource that is developing apps and solutions for auction drafting and fantasy football players. Over the course of 2016 AD will be building ways to help fantasy football players that they have voiced a need for.

Really the world of fantasy football is ever changing and evolving. The ability to be more engaged in the game that we love will continuously present itself with more opportunities. So stay tuned for updates on new ways to be engaged and involved in fantasy football from auctiondraft.net.
