“Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”” - ‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

What does receiving something like a child look like?

Complete, simple acceptance. Trust. Eagerness. That’s also what love looks like and love is the foundation of the Kingdom of God.

I think that is powerful and worth pondering for a long time.

I wonder if there’s a further aspect to this too. Many things are not understood yet by a child, but that doesn’t matter.

Children innately know that adults have a far greater understanding of things than they can possibly have. How can a 2 year old understand that eating ice cream all day will cause their insulin to spike repeatedly causing insulin resistance and turning off the body’s major repair mechanisms like autophagy, resulting in chronic diseases such as cancer.

We can sometimes think we need to understand everything before becoming a Christian. That indicates we don’t know the first thing yet — our position relative to God. He created the Universe with a thought so there will be things we don’t know and will never completely know in this life.

I need to come as I am, like a little child accepting and eager. It takes time to grow and God will guide us. My job is to just walk with Him every day. That’s everyone’s job.
