2016 Mercury Prize: Shortlisted Albums

The nominees for the 2016 Mercury Prize are in and *surprise surprise* there are a few shock omissions: there’s no love for past winners like PJ Harvey & James Blake, big sellers like Adele, Foals & Coldplay, veterans like Suede, Underworld & New Order, or indie darlings like NAO, Shura, Metronomy & Floating Points.

On the plus side though, the list is incredibly strong. So strong in fact that 7 of the 12 have been nominated before: ANOHNI (a winner as Antony and the Johnsons in 2005), Bat For Lashes (her 3rd), David Bowie (his 3rd), Laura Mvula (her 2nd, 100% record), Michael Kiwanuka (his 2nd, 100% record), Radiohead (their 5th, still no wins!), and Savages (their 2nd, 100% record).
