Over the summer, I wrote a post entitled, “Can Patrick Mahomes Succeed Without Tyreek Hill?” I stated my reasons why I thought he was capable of doing so. I remember some telling me in the comment section that it wouldn’t be easy for him, which I didn’t recall saying that it would be, but it’s just as well. I will say this, judging from his play this season, he sure made it look easy.

The loss of Tyreek Hill actually expanded his game. He turned into a more point guard-like quarterback, where he started spreading the ball around more, versus just looking for particular targets. He finished the season as the league’s leading passer, won his second NFL MVP, and on Sunday night, guided the Kansas City Chiefs to their third Super Bowl in four seasons, winning it for second time and earning Super Bowl MVP, also for the second time, becoming the youngest to win the award.

To me, even if the Chiefs would’ve lost the Super Bowl, he still proved me right — going back to winning NFL MVP and even help guiding his team that far without Hill — but the Super Bowl victory and winning Super Bowl MVP is the cherry on top.

I asked the question over the summer if Patrick Mahomes can succeed without Tyreek Hill, and the answer is an obvious, astounding yes.
