Out of all the teams in the 2022 offseason, the Miami Dolphins have put together a huge opportunity. The expectations are exceedingly high for a team that is trying to get back to the playoffs. You will be surprised by all the moves they made which look like a solid A grade for the whole offseason.

During the offseason, the most obvious signing that made the Dolphins look serious was wide receiver Tyrek Hill. They also signed two other big names: Terron Armstead and Melvin Ingram. They also revamped the running back position with Chase Edmonds from the Arizona Cardinals and Raheem Mostert from the San Francisco 49ers. Last season’s depleted wide receiver core only had Jaylen Waddle. Now they added Tyrek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs and Cedrick Wilson Jr from the Dallas Cowboys.

The Miami DoDolphins Defense

In the past two seasons if there has been any side of the ball that’s been stealing the show it’s the Dolphin’s defense. General Manager Chris Grier has been having fun bolstering every single section of this defense.

The secondary is the prized jewel. The secondary is loaded with the likes of Xavien Howard, Brandon Jones, Jevon Holland, and Nik Needham. This offseason the Dolphins added Melvin Ingram to the defensive line. This makes the pass rush ridiculous along with Christian Wilkins and Emmanuel Ogbad from Kansas City.

On paper, this defense looks scary but we will have to see what happens during the season if all the newcomers will mesh well together.

How did the Defense do in the Season Opener

Did the Miami Dolphins' defense do good in the first game? Good is an understatement. Holland picked off a pass in the endzone. They also recovered two fumbles and one was returned for a touchdown by newcomer Melvin Ingram.

The Dolphins Offense

With the defense being as stellar as it was it overshadowed the offense. The offense was alright but it wasn’t as elite as it looks on paper. It was not as productive as they were hoping for.

The running back room was rebuilt and it was never produced. Chris Edmonds was their leading running back and only carried the ball 12 times for 25 yards. The rest of the running back room carried the ball 11 times for 40 yards. The Dolphins only a mast 65 yards rushing.

Tyrek Hill did not disappoint. He caught 8 passes on 12 targets for 94 yards. This will give quarterback Tua Tagovailoa an advantage to become the quarterback the Dolphins were hoping for. Tua himself went 23 of 33 passing for 270 yards and a touchdown. His passer rating was 104.4. This was a very good game for Tua but the critics think he should be better.

Head Coach Mike McDaniels

Mike McDaniels is known as an offensive genius and it has shown in this game sample size. He transition the San Francisco 49ers style of offense that he was familiar with the last few seasons and rebranded it to the Dolphins. It has a similar flashy style yet stays conservative when needed. This will benefit every wide receiver from Hill to Waddle and even newcomer Cedrick Wilson.
