The Grace Is in the Crayons
Is it good to give
of oneself for the cause of others?
Oh, causes are noble things.
They ask blood, sweat, sacrifice;
we all give to causes.
The Lord asks for no cause;
only listening — obedience.
For with it — we see our way paved by Grace
In the bins, like barrels, like baskets the supplies sit.
To bring chaos back into order is His specialty, so we, his hands and feet
set to work.
Crayons are spread like manna
Hand sanitizer for all the hands unclean
Tissues to staunch bloody noses
The sacrifice of body to bend, lift and rock the little bodies that have yet to learn the full mobility of life.
Blessed to be a blessing thus blessed in return.
“Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.”
For saints are we, not good ones, but one’s who have tasted God’s goodness as surely as we have chewed bread in our mouths and sipped grape juice on our lips.
