Critical Race Theory, What Are Centrists Missing?
Liam Kofi Bright and Andrea Lynn Lewis discuss Critical Race Theory. Liam explains why he finds this a helpful framework through which to view the world: “where race (or any other arbitrary demographic difference) has been made salient by history, it will tend to produce subtle (not necessarily conscious) and persistent stigmatisation.” Andrea counters that, although “the core of CRT was founded with good intentions … the activist aspects … make me think there is perhaps a new core, that those things which you say are secondary, are no longer considered secondary.” They discuss how to evaluate the worth of a theory and how to negotiate potentially inflammatory disagreements to find common ground and build a better society.
