When we are in the mood for sushi, we go to Samourai. The food is always fresh and tasty, the house wine is good and the personnel is really friendly.

The reason why we love it more than other sushi places in Leuven is the variety and the flexibility. There are many options you can choose from and, on a not too busy day, the chef would agree to add a little extra tuna sashimi to one of the predefined menus just to match our tastes.

You will learn about us that we are sharers. Meaning that we always prefer to order food “for the table” rather than for any of us and we just share. This obviously doesn’t work with all foods, but with sushi it works great. We would always be 4–6 people when we go to Samourai so we always combine one of the boats or bigger menus with two smaller menus.

The cooking show

We did the cooking show once. I think it’s a nice experience, but not something I would do again. It gets too warm and smells too much like gas. It’s fun though and it makes for a great group picture in the kimonos.

Watch outs

Sitting inside is nice and cosy but personally I don’t like having a table in the cooking show room. The air is too heavy and smells like moist.

For me the main room of the restaurant is also problematic on colder days as they usually have fresh orchids and I am allergic to the smell (but they surely look nice)

If you take a table outside in the back, better not take the one in the corner. Doesn’t smell nice. I guess a lot of drunk students use it for other purposes in the night :S

The menu

There are several menus actually. A main one, a summer one (when the main chef is on holiday :) ) and a take away one.

Address: Muntstraat 9, 3000 Leuven
