Do Not Struggle In Silence

We often get caught up in our own struggles.
It feels like the world is dead set against us. We alone bear a crushing burden bordering on cruel and unfair. We forget everyone struggles.
Sharing experiences helps us remember.
Acknowledgment from others is a healing salve. Simply being heard and understood fulfills a deep, ancient need. Whether introverted or extroverted, we are all social creatures in need of connection.
The support of others lessens the burden. Whether grief, hardship or just bad luck, sharing our struggles is cathartic. The burden is no longer ours to bear alone. Others transfer their own strength and perspective through connection.
Hearing the struggles of others lessens our own. We are reminded of the suffering others face. Some eclipse our own. What at first seems unbearable becomes just another obstacle to overcome.
The experiences of others inspire us. Very few of our struggles are unique. Some of us succumb while others overcome. Important lessons are ripe for the picking in both outcomes. The former initiates reflection while the latter motivates.

- Get plenty of sleep to promote healing and natural stress reduction.
- Remember suffering and pain are part of the human condition.
- Observe small things in nature and wonder at their resilience.
- Practice awareness and intention through meditation.
- Exercise the body, starting with a long walk outside.
- Do something you enjoy, if only for a short time.
If all else fails, seek professional help. It is okay to not be okay, just as long as steps are taken to rediscover balance. The kindness and objectivity of others will open up new possibilities previously hidden by trauma.
Do not struggle in silence. Seek communion with fellow human beings. Gather their strength and perspective. Return it in kind.
Above all else, know this struggle WILL make you stronger. Lean into it.
