You have a journal, but it’s so boring, not effective anymore and you start to procrastinate. So in this article I’ll tell you about a brand new method to organize your journal.

How did it all begin?

Raider Carroll was a boy who couldn’t concentrate on his homework and he wanted to create a method that would help him gather his thoughts. So he created a system, that includes a journal, a to do list and a notebook for thoughts and goals in one place.

In 2013 Carroll released a video on Youtube where he explained his method. Then in 2015 he released an upgraded version of the video that tells the basic principles of his method.

What the Bullet Journal is?

It is not just journal, but the mix of planner and diary. You can write down different things- thoughts, goals, plans, work information. All the information is in the one place, so you will not forget or miss anything.

There is no unique method to become more productive, but Bullet Journal is a good instrument to sort out priorities.

How to keep the Bullet Journal?

First of all, you should buy a notebook. If the pages are not enumerated, you can do it yourself. The first page is the index page. The following pages include the future log where you write some goals for the year. Next pages are for monthly log. Add the name of the month on the both pages. The left is for the month’s calendar. Write down all days of the month, then add the first letters of the days and the right page for monthly task. At the end of the month you may check what you’ve accomplished from this list.

The main part of the journal is daily notes. Each note should have its special mark, for example, a point is for the items of the shopping list or a dash is for meetings.

You may also write down the books to read and films or series to watch.

What else is it for?

Raider Carroll says that Bullet Journal is not only to do list but it can be also a diary. By using such journal you will watch your progress, evaluate your productivity and sort out priorities. You may create a checklist to track your habits like how many hours you’ve slept.

Bullet Journal will help you become more creative, because many people pay much attention to decoration. But you can always choose to be minimalist.

Remember that it’s your personal Bullet Journal so make sure that it suits your needs!

Did this article inspire you to create a Bullet Journal? Do you keep a Bullet Journal yourself?
