Our latest release is here to make you happy! Yes, “happy” is the right word to describe one`s feelings when his or her everyday working routine becomes easier, smoother, and more convenient. Isn`t it great to make trivial things better? Of course, it is! That is why we decided to take care of you, add and improve some of our features. You will feel it in every detail.
So, let`s see what we have!
Global Find and Replace
A lot of attention was paid to this brand new feature. We think it can make your life pretty much easier. If you author voluminous documentation, you probably know that one of the hardest things is to search and replace items to make the whole document consistent and up-to-date. Global Find and Replace feature enables you to find and replace things in a few seconds, which saves your time and is really helpful. What can be found and replaced? Text (including source HTML code), topic links, file links, CSS class names, topics HTML source, style and script files, ToDo items, index keywords, comments (unresolved, resolved, deleted) can be searched in a single place across your entire portal.
It is possible to apply search filters (by type, by specific projects, or publications ). Even extra filters can be applied when searching for text (match case, match the whole word, use regular expressions). The greatest thing is that when a document is updated via Global Replace, it can be rolled back as its version is created automatically in Version History. Also, you will always be able to check who and when updated the document.
Another wonderful thing is the automatic link validation and update. When a topic or file URL changes, the system looks for all links and suggests updating them automatically. So you can correct everything in your document in seconds. Easy, quick, and convenient. Isn`t it awesome? Of course, it is! Correction of your technical documentation may take nearly as much time as writing it from scratch, but not in ClickHelp ;)
More Customization and Branding
Customization and Branding are basic notions in the latest release. We offer even more options for both authors and readers. The ClickHelp Oasis update will allow you to change your technical docs the way you want. Only you know what is helpful and convenient for you and your audience. You will feel more control over what you do to deliver high-quality documentation to your readers.
Now we bring more opportunities to configure the reader UI to your needs. Several templates are available. You can hide ToC if you want, some of the layouts enable it. Each template can further be customized according to your vision.
It is a great idea to be able to make a unique menu with unique items for readers. And we upgraded this feature. The style of items may be individual: you can use buttons or pictures. You can create your own navigation menu and guide your readers through your technical docs the way you want.
Branding has become a more flexible feature that is meant to contribute to your special needs. You may have several products with different branding, the same branding according to your company’s corporate style, or several user manuals with different branding as well — that is possible! Various logos and colors of UI for your documents — all that is a simple thing to do. You can easily make your documentation look different for different readers. Diversity is one of the strongest points of this update.
More Accessibility
As nowadays accessibility has become a highly important thing, we are trying to make our product accessible in any aspect. Now ClickHelp Reader UI is compliant with WCAG 2.0 Level AA and Section 508. We think that it is one of our main goals to make documentation obtainable and convenient for as many users as possible.
Featured Snippets
One more thing that is worth mentioning is Featured Snippets. Now, when your readers use the search page, they will be able to read the answers to their questions without opening them. It is very convenient and handy! The greatest thing is that an author can define which topis to show like that and which to omit. Index keywords will help you do that.
