LeverFi Launches in Hong Kong and China in Collaboration with IOST

We are happy to share that LeverFi (杠杆金融) has taken a major step forward in our vision to build innovative decentralized financial services in our Hong Kong and China growth expansion plans.
In our upcoming growth roadmap, LeverFi continues to work on developing robust and exciting initiatives in decentralized finance to service the existing web3 community, while at the same time, LeverFi shall be expanding into more institutionally driven and compliant financial services offerings such as payments, fund management and real yield products in Hong Kong and China.
In particular, we see progressive developments by Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission to set down clear and transparent guidelines for blockchain regulations as a positive catalyst for web3 growth in Hong Kong and China, and we are incredibly excited for the upcoming developments coming to fruition.
This expansion is done in collaboration with IOST, which is one of the first investors in LeverFi. Since 2019, IOST has a track record of being a highly valued blockchain partner to the Chinese government and was also the first and only blockchain project invited to attend the prestigious forum by China’s China’s Great Hall Of The People to deliver a speech to State Leaders, Mayors, and CEOs.
LeverFi Growth Plans For Hong Kong
Relocation Support in Collaboration with HKTDC
The LeverFi team and operations will be gradually relocated to Hong Kong across 2023. This marks our belief in embracing a transparent and progressive regulatory regime that is friendly to financial technology innovation.
In this relocation, we are working closely with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to set up corporate entities, office space and hire local talents with strong Mandarin and cross-border marketing and business development capabilities to grow the LeverFi team.
We are also receiving support across business matching, market intelligence, and regulatory licensing to be fully compliant in the Hong Kong market, with additional growth advisory into Mainland China opportunities.
Hong Kong Financial Services License
As part of LeverFi's growth and expansion plans, we will be participating actively in Hong Kong’s financial license regime.
This includes the upcoming crypto licensing regime and public consultation around implementing measures for robust investor protection measures. We are excited to provide our feedback and be part of the dialogue that provides the initial framework and shapes the course for Hong Kong’s emergent crypto regulations.
We will also be applying for traditional financial services licenses for fund management and payments, to expand our offerings to institutions, corporations, and accredited investors. Retail products in the form of thematic ETFs will also be developed and launched, with the benefit and expectations of growing and empowering the everyday user with digital assets exposure in a safe and compliant manner.
