It’s not obvious anymore.


It’s the second or third time now that I’ve heard my 11 year-old son say something close to ‘women have the same rights as men’. He’s not saying, though, ‘my classmate X and my classmate Y have the same rights’ or ‘dwellers in Street W are equal in rights to dwellers in Street Z’. Of course, it’s obvious to him that all classmates and dwellers have the same rights.

By indoctrinating him, the school system has succeeded at instilling in his mind the very idea it meant to prevent; an idea it never was there and never would have.
