Senator Hanson has said her party, which has a preference deal with WA Premier Colin Barnett’s Liberals, will not support the sale of state assets.
Liberal Democrats senator David Leyonhjelm has released a YouTube video in which he likens Senator Hanson to Marx.
“She says anything that belongs to the people, belongs to the people — Karl Marx would agree,” Senator Leyonhjelm says.
“Due to preferences, a vote for the Liberals is a vote for One Nation and for Karl Marx. Vote for the Liberal Democrats instead.”
In the video, Senator Hanson is depicted smiling under the Soviet red flag next to a large image of Marx.
The LDP is considered a chance of picking up an upper house seat at the March 11 poll in WA following a preference deal with other micro parties, including Family First, Flux the System and Fluoride Free.
Senator Leyonhjelm says his party supports asset sales as “the government doesn’t need to own things”.
