LG’s Commitment to Sustainability is Vast!
The Energy Star program is celebrating its 30th birthday in 2022. Initially conceived and implemented by the US Department of Energy, the program was established to benchmark energy efficiency of powered devices from heating and cooling systems to home appliances and smaller devices such as printers. The program soon evolved to include commercial and industrial realms and has gained international recognition and traction over the years.
LG has long been a proponent of energy efficiency and we are proud to have institutionalized sustainability in our Jeong-Do Management code of ethics. LG is an eight-time Energy Star Partner of the Year, and in 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency honored LG with three important awards: the Sustainable Materials Management Gold Tier Award, Product Champion Award and Energy Star Emerging Technology Award. These prestigious awards are carefully managed and hard-earned. In 2021, LG recycled 50 million pounds of e-waste. We’ve also implemented a diverse array of energy innovations ranging from using recycled fabric and packaging on consumer loudspeakers to developing advanced adaptive compressors on refrigerators.
At LG, our commitment to energy efficiency extends from how we design and build our technologies to how they perform and are managed at end-of-life. Our dedication to the program also influences how our organization works and even where it works! Our brand-new North America Headquarters in Fort Lee, New Jersey has achieved LEED PLATINUM status, the highest level of green building standard awarded by the US Green Building Council!
