Every June, pride month comes to Philadelphia, causes a whirlwind of emotion and support for the LGBTQ community, and leaves in the blink of an eye. Although June is coming to an end, it’s also very important to realize that just because pride month is leaving us, doesn’t mean your pride and support needs to go with it. If your excitement over this past month just can’t be contained, here are some events in the Philly area throughout the year that you can attend to make Pride month last the entire year.

National events

Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference- Is one of the largest trans-focused events in the country. It will be held August 2nd-4th in the Pennsylvania convention center.

LGBTQ Non profit events

Philadelphia Family Pride, an LGBT non-profit, hosts events for LGBTQ couples and families to unite the community in the Philadelphia area.

  • New and expectant parent potluck — July 7th
  • Single parents meet up — September 11th

The Attic Youth Center, is the only non-profit in Philadelphia exclusively serving LGBTQ youth.

  • GendeREvolution — Every Wednesday at 4 P.M.
  • Vogue Nights — Every Friday at 7 P.M.

Galaei, a queer latino social justice organization holds events for the latino LGBTQ community all year.

  • HIV testing — every Tuesday at 1 P.M.
  • Trans Equality Project — Every other Wednesday at 5 P.M.

And there’s plenty more where that came from, genoricity.org is a great way to find non-profit events throughout the Philadelphia area.

Fringe festival, a two week long festival jam packed with LGBT centric events and performances in theatres throughout the city. This year it will be held Sept 6–23.

Fesitval O18, is 11 days full of Opera performances for diverse audiences. Last year hundreds of LGBT opera fans attended to see these unique works of art. This year it will be held Sept. 20–30.

Social events for LGBTQ

Pride night at the Phillies, June 28th the Philadelphia Phillies will be hosting a night at the stadium to show support for the community.

Outfest, On October 7th Philadelphia will host the world’s largest coming out day festival!

And if all of these simply are not enough, bars and clubs throughout the gayborhood will give you your daily fix of pride. Everyday Woody’s is a popular spot for happy hour at their globar. Tuesday through Sunday Toasted Walnut also hosts a happy hour with live music. So if you are a Philadelphia resident, don’t let that rainbow flame in your heart burn out so fast, there’s plenty of pride to last the whole year.
