Guillaume Santos Rebelo is a key member of the LGO executive leadership team.

As Chief Technology Officer of LGO Markets, Guillaume brings expertise and enterprise-class process in technology business strategy, product & software development.

Drawing on his engineering background, Guillaume joined LGO with 15+ years of experience in product & software development and delivering distributed platforms for startups, financial technology company and institutions.
As a blockchain and cryptocurrency enthusiast, Guillaume previously worked at itBit/Paxos for three years — covering a wide range of tech topics across compliance, finance, and operations — before working as a consultant in the cryptocurrency space.

Guillaume, how did you first get into the cryptocurrency space?

Like many others, it was through Bitcoin. I heard of it before but it was really in 2015 when Bitcoin was at $250 that I started looking at it into more details. It has been a long and fascinating path from then to now.
When I first dived into Bitcoin, I was genuinely excited. I discovered a new way of thinking and through this, endless possibilities. I spent time understanding and learning about the blockchain concepts, the proof of work, mining, and so on. And I never stopped since. The idea of being part of what could revolutionize the financial industry never left me and I ended up making it part of my job. It’s a great ecosystem to be involved in as a whole; even more impressive at LGO, we have a talented team with an intelligent vision and a unique culture.

What does your daily work at LGO involve?

If I had to summarize it in one sentence, I would say that my mission here at LGO is to rapidly identify what is valuable to the client in order to deliver the desired product faster and with an instant market fit. On a daily basis, it means three things: first, partnering with clients to better understand their needs and collect their feedbacks. This is the only way to deliver substantial value to them and have an immediate impact. It also means designing the best workflows in order to optimize our processes and be efficient at every level without compromising with our values of being provably transparent and secure by design. Finally, I am spending a fair share of my day working closely with sales and compliance to make sure our visions are aligned and that we deliver the best product to our clients at the end of the day.

What is the most challenging part of the job?

The biggest challenge is finding the “transforming while performing” balance. We are solving problems that no one has before. This is what makes every day at LGO new and exciting: we are working to deliver innovative solutions for global financial institutions and establish a standard for transparency in the digital asset trading industry. Which means, building a next-generation digital asset trading platform that can technically prove that there is no price manipulation and fake volume happening while offering clients reduced counterparty risk. There are lots of parameters to be considered, we need to manage priorities and trade-offs while maintaining regulatory constraints.

Is there one trend within your industry you would like to talk about?

To me, the most exciting part is to witness the overall crypto adoption across the board, all sorts of assets being tokenized and capital being able to be moved instantly on blockchains. Hopefully, the crypto space is also moving toward more transparency with initiatives like the LGO Node or the Coin Market Cap Data Accountability & Transparency Alliance.

LGO has built and delivered a trading platform for digital assets with proprietary technology which is provably transparent, non-custodial and secure. The firm currently offers BTC / USD with additional pairs and currencies to be added in the future.
