The Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles is one of the most unique communities in all of Los Angeles. From the street art to the residences it offers a distinctly creative lifestyle that can be found in few other locations. It originated as the industrial district of DTLA. The Arts District was home to major manufacturing and railroad companies.

Once the industrial scene migrated elsewhere, many buildings were transitioned into residences. Flocking from the westside, creative minded Angelenos began to take over the area. It then became known as the Arts District with the increasing number of creative inhabitants and art galleries taking up residency in the original industrial style buildings.

We wanted to put this piece together to give those who are unfamiliar with what the Arts District offers, some insight on the area. There are definitely more than 5 places that you should check out but we feel these are the “must see” venues.

1. Poketo

If you enjoy shopping then this should be your first stop! With a large selection of jewelry, clothing, furniture, etc. that is continuously updated it is hard to not find something you love. They also offer workshops where you can learn about anything from shoemaking to photography.

2. Urban Radish

Located on the same block as the Biscuit Company Lofts and Toy Factory Lofts, you can find Urban Radish. With a Trader Joes-esque fresh foods market and restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner it is the go-to spot above 7th street. Urban Radish also offers live music every Wednesday along with some wine and cheese tasting.

3. EIGHTYTWO

Drinks and an old-school arcade, what’s better? At EIGHTYTWO you will find a mix of retro pinball/arcade games along with an outdoor patio offering a live DJ to keep the night rolling. They always say to arrive early to avoid the lines because this place is HOT!

4. Blue Bottle Cafe

Everyone loves a good cup of coffee to get the day started. No matter if you prefer cold brew, espresso, house blend, or iced coffee, they have it. Simplicity is everything for Blue Bottle. What you ask is what you get. Isn’t that what everyone wants?

5. Art Share L.A.

If you are an art fanatic or just enjoy the occasional art class then I would recommend checking out Art Share. An old textile warehouse transformed into a mixture of live/work loft spaces and community classrooms and showrooms, Art Share is an amazing place to expand your artistic horizons.

This list is in no specific order. We love each and every one of these places and recommend that you try them all! The list continues so if you are curious of what else is out there, please feel free to reach out! You can reach our team at (323) 746–4554 or Home@LHspaces.com.
