Attention Los Angeles Shoppers! Welcome to the grocery store where you can’t eat anything you buy. The Standard in Downtown Los Angeles opened the doors for their very own grocery store this past week. The store consists of all products the average grocery store would sell with one small exception: all of Sparrow’s products are made of felt.

British artist, Lucy Sparrow, is the mastermind behind Sparrow Mart. The Los Angeles pop-up is the largest of her experiments. In the past she has done similar events in New York and London which were about a quarter of the size.

The produce, meats, snacks, desserts aren’t the only items consisting of felt; however, as you wander the store you will realize that even the ATM and freezers are covered in felt!

As a foreigner, Lucy traveled to the U.S. and during her trip began to take photos of typical supermarket shelves. This allowed her to make almost a perfect replica solely out of felt.

Sparrow Mart has been a hit since they opened up downtown and is open until August 31st. The store remains open until the products are gone. In the past Lucy has closed a pop-up an entire week early so hurry up and get in before its gone! Admission is free from 11am-9pm everyday except for Mondays.
